This organic robot could save lives

Stanford University researchers created this vine-like robot which will move around by ‘growing’ and shrinking.

Inspired by natural organisms like fungi, this synthetic resin robot will age to seventy-two meters long and move at thirty-five km/h simply by inflating and deflating its limbs.

It will raise a a hundred kilogram crate, crawl beneath little gaps, produce a free-standing structure and navigate tough areas due to the camera on its arm/tentacle.
